Jayson Tatum made substantial efforts in the Boston Celtics’ quest for a consecutive championship. He led the team to the postseason, where they eliminated the Orlando Magic in round 1.

Tatum maintained the dominance in the round 2 playoffs series against the New York Knicks. He gave a dominating 42 performance in Game 4 of the series. However, the luck was not on his side in that game. With 2:58 left in the game, he suffered a non-contact Achilles tendon rupture when he dove for a loose ball.

The Celtics lost the game with the final score 113-121. Recently, Tatum made a guest appearance on ESPN’s First Take, where he discussed his team’s perfect record had he stayed healthy against the Knicks.

“I’m not gonna sit here and speculate… all I know is I’ve been down 3-2 in my career. I’m 3-0 in all those games.” Tatum said.

Without the star player, the team managed to win the game five but ultimately lost the game 6.

The Injury sparked major concerns among the league about Tatum’s return. Multiple reports suggested that he may miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season. In light of this situation, a Celtics legend questioned Jaylen Brown’s role for the upcoming season. However, Tatum recently offered some hope to his fans with an update on his return.

“I haven’t said I’m not playing this season. The most important thing is a full recovery, and I’m not rushing it at all. But also, I don’t go to rehab six days a week for nothing,” Tatum said during the recent episode of ESPN’s First Take.

Tatum averaged 26.8 points, six assists, and 8.7 rebounds in 72 regular-season games in the 2024-25 NBA season. With his amazing contribution, the Celtics finished the regular season in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 61-21 record.
