Here’s What It Cost Taxpayers Just To Bring President Donald Trump To The Super Bowl

Five and a half hours of football, a roaring crowd, and one presidential cameo. That short trip by Donald Trump to the Super Bowl earlier this year came with a hefty bill, more than $120,000, according to Front Office Sports.
Back in February, Trump became the first sitting president to attend the big game. Fans in New Orleans cheered as he walked onto the field at the Superdome with Ivanka and Eric. He shook hands with players before kickoff and then settled in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Weeks later, reports confirmed that the visit cost stretched far beyond ticket prices.
Just a few days ago, Donald Trump slammed the NFL for its new rule. But this time, it’s the spending that is being talked about.
The Breakdown Of Donald Trump’s Appearance

The Secret Service spent $123,411 in preparation for the trip. Records show the agency arrived in New Orleans five days before Trump touched down. Much of the spending went toward hotel bookings. More than $65,000 covered nine different hotels, with three of those stays topping $16,000 each. Nearly $18,000 went to the Margaritaville Resort alone.
On top of that, two payments totaling around $25,000 went to the lodging services of Trump. Another $7,000 landed in the NFL’s pocket. Those numbers don’t include meals, travel, or pay for the agents who worked around the clock to secure the city. Add those in, and the total climbs even higher.
Security in New Orleans reached levels rarely seen at a sporting event. Law enforcement agencies locked down popular parts of the city. Drones hovered overhead. Armed guards patrolled streets. Rooftop snipers and police dogs joined the mix. Vehicles entering the Superdome drove through a giant X-ray machine to check for explosives.
Trump used the visit to meet with family members of victims from the New Year’s Eve ISIS attack on Bourbon Street. He also shook hands with Chiefs star Chris Jones. The Eagles ended the night with a 40-22 win, while taxpayers ended up with the bill.
The president has continued to draw massive security details at public events. Just last week, the Yankees placed glass panels in front of his seating area during a game in The Bronx.
Before leaving for that appearance, Trump just casually answered questions about his safety. “Not really,” he said. “I’m really concerned for our country. We have a great country. We have a radical left group of lunatics out there, just absolute lunatics and we’re gonna get that problem solved.”
