Golf has been an integral part of many NBA stars’ lives. So has been the case with LeBron James. Lately, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is often spotted escaping the hardwood for the fairway to unwind and sharpen his golfing skills. Ever since he entered the Greens, many fellow league players, including Stephen Curry, had something to say about him. And recently, a fellow teammate, Austin Reaves, made a skeptical yet hilarious claim about the 40-year-old’s golf swing.

Notably, Reaves is claimed to be the second-best active NBA player, trailing only Stephen Curry. Just earlier this July, he finished T-13 at the American Century Championship, where the Golden State Warriors star finished fifth on the leaderboard.

However, let’s come to the interesting part. Speaking to reporters in a press conference, Austin Reaves claimed Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, has “a good swing.”

“I played with Bronny probably a week ago…I sent Bron a picture of me and Bronny out there and I was like I got all of my money on Bronny. He’s got a good swing,” Reaves said.

But… but! Austin Reaves didn’t just stop there! When the reporter asked, “What about his dad [LeBron]?” the 27-year-old Lakers star chuckled and said, “It’s a work in progress.”

Well, Reaves might certainly be right! Bronny may have a better golf swing than his father. But there is no doubt regarding LeBron James’ superiority on the NBA court, even at the age of 40. Moreover, how many NBA stars get a Genesis Invitational from an active PGA Tour star? At least, LeBron has got one!

As LeBron nears the twilight of his NBA career, many wonder how he’ll channel his competitive fire outside of basketball. And even fans recently went wild when he showed off a crisp, refined swing during a practice session.

It is absolutely clear that LeBron James loves golf. And when he was rooting for Tommy Fleetwood at the Tour Championship earlier this August, it made it clearer that he follows golf, too!

Soon after his Fleetwood support post on X (formerly Twitter), one-time PGA Tour winner Michael Kim invited him to participate in the Genesis Invitational.

Replying to LeBron’s post, Kim wrote, “Hey LeBron, there’s a tournament called the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country club. You can play with Scottie, Fleetwood or whoever you’d like in the Wednesday Pro am! It’s a lot of fun.” He further added, “It’s during a home stint, and you don’t have a game that day. Feel free to come out!”

The Genesis Invitational is set for February 2026. With celebrities and athletes often being part of the Pro-Am on Wednesday, LeBron James can certainly take up Michael Kim’s invitation. Moreover, fans may finally see another NBA star at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California!
