It feels like it’s not a matter of if, but when Mike McDaniel will coach his final game for the Miami Dolphins.

Every week seems to bring worse news.

It’s been a very bad 2025 season for the Miami Dolphins, and that’s put the head coach on the hot seat. After he started his head coaching career 20-14 and looking like a team that was primed to do something special in the future, McDaniel followed that up with an 8-9 season, and now he’s 1-6 to start 2025

That’s led to questions about McDaniel getting fired.

On Sunday, things got even worse. The Dolphins were blown out by the Browns while allowing a team to score over 17 points, which they hadn’t done all year long.

Unfortunately for Miami Dolphins fans, Mike McDaniel is not going anywhere, per a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The smile that McDaniel once had has been replaced with sadness and despair. It was on full display after the game as his strange behavior came out in the form of not making much sense when speaking to reporters.

Mike McDaniel Might Be Done With Tua Tagovailoa

The biggest headline from Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel’s post-game press conference was discussing the three-interception performance from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Throughout most of the game, the Dolphins appeared lifeless and hardly put up much of a fight.

Tua Tagovailoa, who completed 12 of 23 passes for just 100 yards and no touchdowns, was benched to bring in backup Quinn Ewers.

After the game, McDaniel hinted at making changes to the team and getting rid of those “negatively affecting the football team.”

“There’s a lot of guys that will have an important work week,” McDaniel said at the presser.

“Because we’re not — I mean, if you are negatively affecting the football team routinely, I don’t have a choice but to assess a different player. And I have to coach a lot better, as well. So we need — we’re gonna find out who and what we’re made of.”

The dysfunction of the team was on full display last week when Tagovailoa ratted out players who had been regularly missing team meetings.

“Definitely not happy, not proud of where I’m at with my play, with how I’ve gone about things this year,” Tagovailoa said after Sunday’s game.
