Chael Sonnen has already declared Khabib Nurmagomedov’s family the greatest family in the history of the sport. Every member of the family has shown dominance, from Khabib to Umar; all of them have proven their greatness in the UFC. However, one name, Usman Nurmagomedov, hasn’t showcased his class in the UFC yet, even though he has been a PFL champion for a long time.

Meanwhile, reports now suggest that Usman, who has remained undefeated in his career just like his brother Khabib, has only two fights left on his PFL contract. And given how dominant he has been, along with the boost his name gets from his skills and his connection to Khabib, he is expected to make his UFC debut soon.

Earlier, talking about the same, Team Khabib’s coach Javier Mendez said, “So it all comes down to contract negotiations. And who is going to pay for what. At the end of the day whoever is taking good care of you is who you normally fight for.

In his career, Usman has defended his title five times and has defeated big names like Paul Hughes and Alexander Shabliy. He’s only 27, with plenty of time ahead of him, so entering the UFC in 2026 would mark a major moment in his career. A potential fight with Ilia Topuria, whom Khabib believes does not have the all-round skills that Usman Nurmagomedov possesses, would be massive.

Khabib Feels Usman Nurmagomedov Is A More Complete Fighter Than Ilia Topuria

‘The Eagle’ believes everyone can say whatever they want, but when it comes to being truly well-rounded, his cousin has the upper hand over the current lightweight champion. He said, “They have to fight. People can talk, they can say whatever they want. Ilia, Usman… in my opinion, like well rounded fighter, I think Usman is better.”

He watches his brother train up close and genuinely feels Usman has the skills to beat the Georgian champion. In Khabib’s eyes, Usman is the more complete fighter, and that’s why he feels this matchup needs to happen. Indeed, it will be one of the biggest fights in the UFC in recent times especially after Islam Makhachev vs. Topuria potential fight fell off.
