As they prepare to open their new stadium ahead of the 2026 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills suffered a setback in the construction process. The old Highmark Stadium (previously Ralph Wilson Stadium) hosted the team for the final season in 2025. Now, they are selling everything they can before moving across the street.

The new stadium, which looks incredible from the air, should be ready before the Bills kick off the 2026 campaign. However, they needed to stop the construction process on Monday after finding graffiti and more signs of vandalism at several locations inside the building.

New Buffalo Bills Stadium Suffered Vandalism Earlier This Week

One of the contractors working on the stadium, Gilbane | Turner Building Co., confirmed multiple signs of vandalism on Monday morning. The incident seemingly occurred during the past weekend.

“Graffiti was found in both finished and unfinished areas of the stadium project site,” said Gilbane in a prepared statement.

“We suspended work and launched a full investigation in partnership with trade contractors and unions to send a clear message about how seriously we take this matter. Gilbane | Turner maintains zero tolerance for graffiti, vandalism or defacement of property on our project.

“This behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the standards we expect on this project.”

According to WBEN, the project is about 87% complete. The contractors should be back to work at some point this week.

The Bills will start a new era in 2026, with Joe Brady as head coach. They will have a new stadium, too, hoping that it can help them win the elusive Super Bowl title.
