Kawhi Leonard Praises Draymond Green With Strong ‘Hall of Fame’ Statement
The Golden State Warriors had one of the best games in their first play-in against the Los Angeles Clippers. Dropping some confident perspective on their play-in campaign, Stephen Curry had a stellar outing. However, even though the 38-year-old had the numbers, it was Draymond Green, who was the hero of the game for Kawhi Leonard.
Coming into the game, the Clippers heavily depended on Leonard. And initially, it looked like the plan was working. Dropping 14 points, the Clippers surged to a 61-53 lead in the first half. Unfortunately, this was when Green decided to prove why he was one of the defenders in the league.
Detailing the obstacles of playing against the 36-year-old, Leonard said, “That was it right there. They had a great game plan. And then, you know, Draymond Green, Hall of Fame defender. Yeah, it was hard to even get shots up.”

Well, the Clippers star is not wrong here. As the third quarter ended, Leonard was making merry with 19 points. Just when it looked like the 2-time NBA champion would run away with the game, the former Defensive Player of the Year rose to the occasion.
Restricting Leonard significantly, Green almost made him go pointless in the last quarter. As the 7-time NBA All-Star ended with 21 points, it was game over for the Clippers.
Meanwhile, as Green had a heartfelt reply to the praise, rumors about a possible trade are now going wild.
Will Kawhi Leonard And Draymond Green Team Up For The Golden State Warriors Next?
The 4-time NBA All-Star was rumored to leave Golden State in the trade window. But with some stellar showing recently, Green might stay with the team for one more season. Interestingly, following the Clippers’ star’s praise, the 4-time NBA champion reciprocated in a way that made the fans suspicious.
“To hear one of the greats say that about me? Man. That’s special. You know, that’s why you do it because you want, you want respect from your peers. Kawhi is not—he’s not just an ordinary peer. Again, he is one of the greats. To hear him say that about me, man, that guy took a Defensive Player of the Year Award away from me. To say that about me? That means a lot, that means a lot,” Green said.
Immediately, speculation about whether the Warriors are targeting a possible trade with the 2020 NBA All-Star MVP is making the rounds. With a lot of doors open, fans will have to wait and watch what happens next.
