Fans will have more of Sophie Cunningham in the 2026 WNBA season, regardless of where she plays. After spending the first six years of her career with the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham landed with the Indiana Fever in 2025.

Although her season was cut short due to an injury, she made a strong impression with the Fever, embracing her role as the enforcer and defending superstar Caitlin Clark.

Cunningham averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last year and developed a strong relationship with Clark. However, it is unclear if the team will bring her back.

Regardless of where she goes next, Sophie Cunningham should get a big payday after the league’s salary cap increased to $7 million for 2026. In the meantime, the veteran announced on Tuesday that she would serve as a contributor for USA Network during the upcoming WNBA season.

“I’m back baby and with a NEW SQUAAAAD,” Cunningham wrote on Instagram. “I’m joining the @usasports team throughout the year to contribute to studio coverage of @wnba games on @usanetwork.”

After spending months sending fans into a frenzy with her social media posts, Cunningham will be even more present in their lives with this new gig. The WNBA season will begin on May 8.
