Indiana Fever In Uncomfortable Territory WNBA Might Investigate Mysterious Caitlin Clark Absence

After multiple player injuries in the 2025 Season, the Indiana Fever team put forward a ‘no injury’ update before the recent home game against the Portland Fire. This not only allowed coach Stephanie White to use her roster depth but also allowed fans to witness complete team rotation and strength on the court. But just hours before the match, an update on Caitlin Clark’s injury came forward, where the franchise upgraded her status to ‘questionable’.
The 2024 rookie had been in solid form for the side, leading the league in assists and also ranking among the top five in scoring early in the season. Understanding the player’s impact on the court and on fans’ attendance, her absence raised many concerns.
As for the WNBA, its topic for investigation is as rules indicate that teams who are aware of injuries, “must report information concerning player injuries, illnesses, other medical conditions, or rest for all WNBA games” by 5 p.m. local time the day before a game, unless they are playing back-to-back games. This calls for an investigation by the league.

Addressing the media after the game, coach Stephanie White said CC felt stiffness in her back and clarified that the injury would not become a long-term issue. Adding to that, she mentioned that Clark was out of Tuesday’s team practice.
White also mentioned that such things can happen, as there is little clarity on players who didn’t practice or don’t get a pro day. In the game, though, the team delivered a clinical performance to hold off the Portland challenge.

Aliyah Boston (24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals), Kelsey Mitchell (21 points, 4 assists), and Raven Johnson (9 points) combined for 54 points as the Indiana Fever defeated Portland, 90–73, for their largest margin of victory of the season.
