Charissa Thompson Receives Emotional Support After Tragic Death Left Her ‘Heartbroken’

Charissa Thompson has received a lot of support after sharing the heartbreaking loss of her dog, Willis. The longtime FOX Sports host posted an emotional message on Instagram this week as she said goodbye to the companion who stayed by her side for 12 years.
Thompson described Willis as more than a pet. She called him her “best friend” and gave a throwback on the years they spent together through every stage of her career and personal life. She shared how she adopted Willis when he was just six months old and even once brought him into the FOX office during long workdays.
“My heart breaks writing this….I’ve lost my best friend,” Thompson wrote. “After 12 amazing years of being Willis’ Mom I had to let him go. I knew this day would come, I just never wanted it to.”
She also spoke about the deep bond they shared. “He was everything to me, I wanted more time with him, as all animal owners long for. Im so grateful I got to hold him as he passed so he knew I was there for him, like he’d always been for me.”
The loss comes during an already painful stretch for Thompson. Last year, she lost another dog, Daisy, unexpectedly. She also said goodbye to Pilot, another longtime pet, about a year ago. Thompson has often spoken publicly about her love for animals and her commitment to rescue organizations.
FOX Friends And NFL Community Share Support

Several friends and colleagues expressed their sadness about Thompson after her post.
Erin Andrews, Thompson’s close friend and co-host on the “Calm Down with Erin and Charissa” podcast, shared a heartfelt response. “We love you Willis! We will take care of your sweet mom for you,” Andrews wrote.
FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer also offered support. “Awww, Willis will always be with you. ALWAYS,” he commented. “Sending you a ton of love CT! Love ya.”
FOX broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt reacted as well. “My heart breaks for you Charissa,” he wrote. “The pics show how much love you gave each other. Sending hugs. So sorry.”
Former NFL lineman Andrew Whitworth remembered Willis. “I’m so sorry CT. Willis was one of one. Love you,” he wrote.
Podcaster Kylie Kelce also reached out after seeing Thompson’s post. “There is truly nothing like losing your dog,” Kelce commented. “Sending so much love your way.”
Thompson has long used her platform to support animal rescue efforts. She previously showed the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County during the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” initiative and later donated a van to help the organization.
Away from television, Thompson spends much of her time at Ruby Ranch surrounded by animals. Still, Willis held a special place in her life.
