Could Aaron Donald really be thinking about an NFL comeback? And now everyone is curious after the retired star was spotted working out at the Los Angeles Rams practice facility during the offseason.

Donald, who retired after the 2023 season, trained at the Rams’ facility in Woodland Hills on Friday. According to TMZ, he put himself through a tough one-hour workout that included ladder drills, medicine ball exercises, and agility training. By the end of the session, he looked completely worn out.

Donald has stayed in great shape since retiring and often shares workout videos on social media. But this time was different. Instead of training in a gym, he was back on the field at the Rams’ facility, and that quickly got fans wondering if a return to the NFL could still be possible.

Rumors about Donald returning have followed him for months. They picked up even more after the Rams added reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett this offseason. Many around the league believe the pairing could create one of the NFL’s strongest defensive fronts if Donald decides to return.

Rams coach Sean McVay did little to quiet the rumors when reporters asked about Donald during Garrett’s introductory press conference.

“If he’s interested, there is an opportunity…” McVay said.

McVay also spoke about his relationship with the longtime Rams star.

“Aaron’s a guy that I stay really close in touch with, and I know the respect that he has for Myles,” McVay said. “Talk to him about the opportunity to be able to bring him on board. If Aaron decides he wants to dust them off at the age of 35 I bet you he could still do it at a pretty high clip.”

Former Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth also believes Donald has at least considered the idea. During an interview with The California Post at the American Century Championship in Nevada, Whitworth said he recently discussed a comeback with Donald.

“I think it’s going to be how comfortable he is with going back out there and understanding not the positive, but the negative,” Whitworth said. “And that is you get injured. Injuries, things that affect you past football. It’s going to be how comfortable he is with that.”

Whitworth added that Donald has “definitely” shown “a pique of interest” in playing again. Still, he believes only Donald can decide if his body feels ready for another NFL season.

“Aaron’s a guy like me,” Whitworth said. “He’s training all the time no matter what. You know when you go in there a few days how you feel and whether that’s every day life feel good, or I could sign up to play football. But only he will know that.”

Donald has not announced any plans to return.
