BREAKING: Michigan Wolverines Head Coach Jim Harbaugh Has Officially Been Suspended
Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh is set to miss the start of the upcoming NCAA football season through suspension.
The program has self-imposed a three-game ban for Harbaugh on the back of recruiting violations for which it came under scrutiny.
The HC will miss next weekend’s season opener against East Carolina, plus the games against UNLV and Bowling Green which are set to follow.
Michigan came to the conclusion after a negotiated resolution between the NCAA and the coach fell apart as it was not approved by the Committee on Infractions.
The university had negotiated a four-game suspension for Harbaugh and a one-game ban for assistants Sherrone Moore and Grant Newsome but has done otherwise following a rejection by said committee.
The Wolverines got a draft notice pertaining to the allegations from the NCAA back in January that detailed violations including impermissible contact with recruits during the COVID-19 dead period. Harbaugh’s failure to cooperate with the investigation saw a more serious Level I charge brought against him.
The 59-year-old told reporters he had nothing to be ashamed of at Big Ten Media Day, though he refused to be drawn into discussing the negotiation.
It was expected that the case would not come to a close until the 2024 offseason after the resolution failed to get approved. But it appears the Wolverines didn’t want it hanging over them.
