Clippers Deal Kawhi Leonard To Unexpected Eastern Conference Team In Giant Trade Proposal
An enticing trade proposal has the Los Angeles Clippers dealing future Hall of Famer Kawhi Leonard to a bubble team in the Eastern Conference.
In the 2021 offseason, the Clippers signed the two-time NBA Finals MVP to a four-year extension worth $176.3 million deal. But coming off yet another disappointing playoff exit, many are still calling for the Clippers to shake up their roster by trading Leonard and/or fellow All-Star Paul George.
The Die-Hard Chicago Bulls Fans X (formerly known as Twitter) account proposed an intriguing trade that has the Clippers sending Leonard to Chicago. In return, the Bulls would send All-Star guard Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams and 2027 and 2029 first-round pick swaps:
Four summers ago, the Clippers signed Leonard and fulfilled his request by trading for George in a blockbuster deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But both Leonard and George have missed considerable time with action, with the former playing just 161 total games over four years in LA (he missed the entire 2021-22 season). George himself has never played more than 56 games in a season for the Clippers.
With Leonard and George, the Clippers have only won three postseason series, so there’s a strong case to be made that a core shakeup is overdue. Last season, they were ousted by the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Bulls, with a healthy Leonard working alongside DeMar DeRozan, would instantly emerge as a contender in the Eastern Conference.
