The New England Patriots signed quarterback Will Grier to their active roster off of the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

That was good for Bill Belichick and his Patriots, but terrible news for the Bengals.

Grier, a fifth-year player out of West Virginia University, signed with the Bengals’ practice squad at the end of training camp after spending this preseason with the Dallas Cowboys.

With him gone, that means the Bengals only have one healthy quarterback amid the lingering ankle injury that starter Joe Burrow is dealing with.

Jake Browning is the Bengals’ only other quarterback on the roster.

Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals and the most recent highest-paid player in the NFL after agreeing to a five-year, $275 million deal extension, is trying to resemble his usual self after suffering a preseason calf injury.

As for if he will suit up in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, that remains to be seen.

“Feeling better. Not as sore. Time heals. So we’ll see,” Burrow told reporters about his calf injury on Thursday, per The Athletic. When asked if he could play, he responded with, “We’ll see.”

Zac Taylor said it would be “ideal” if his quarterback got in a practice before the Monday night contest, per NFL Media.

Burrow was seen limping late in Cincy’s 27-24 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, so the team will definitely need to make a move or two to make sure they have enough QB’s that can take over just in case.
