Donald Trump is coming to a game near you.

The former president will be at the University of South Carolina vs. Clemson game on Saturday, Nov. 25, according to multiple reports familiar with the planning.

There has been no announcement from the university or Trump campaign, but South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said last week he would welcome Trump to the rivalry game.

“Long ago Peggy and I issued him a standing invitation to come anytime he wants to,” McMaster said. “If he comes, we’ll be with him.”

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was asked for his reaction to news of Trump’s appearance during his press conference Tuesday.

“I don’t care who comes to the game,” he said. “I just care about who’s playing in the game. Unless (South Carolina coach Shane Beamer) is going to put him in and throw him a halfback pass or something.”

Trump has no official ties to either university or football program but the Tigers visited the White House twice during his term after winning the College Football Playoff national championship in 2016 and 2018.

Clemson’s 2019 visit was mired in controversy as photos showed a fast food spread that players were served. Trump claimed to have personally funded the buffet because of the shutdown at the time.

As for now, Trump has remained a front-runner in the 2024 Republican primary field despite facing federal criminal charges.
