A respected NFL writer has tragically lost his life this weekend.

According to reports, longtime NFL writer Mark Lane tragically died on Saturday as his good friend and fellow reporter John McClain shared the tough news.

“Condolences to Mark Lane’s family, friends and co-workers. A lot of people in Texas and Arkansas will miss him. He came to the combine last year even though he had to use oxygen because of his breathing issues. Mark was always a super-hard worker who loved covering the NFL,” he reported.

His actual cause of death has not been released, but it appears he had been struggling with his breathing.

Lane is known for his coverage of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

To show you how short life is, Lane has just written and published a piece on Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn before his death. It spoke about his struggles early on in his career and how he became one of the better kickers in 2023.

People showed their appreciation of him online:

Mark had covered the NFL since 2012 with bylines appearing on Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated’s network. His work has been cited by ProFootballTalk, Sporting News, and NFL.com.

Condolences to his family and friends as they navigate through this difficult time.
