The Dallas Mavericks recently played their first summer league game of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. There was a lot of excitement surrounding this game, as it marked the debut of the Mavericks’ standout rookie, Cooper Flagg.

The atmosphere was electric, especially since Bronny James was competing against Flagg. However, Flagg noted that it wasn’t one of his best performances.

“Not up to my standard. I’m gonna regroup and I’ll be alright,” Flagg said during the post-game interview when ESPN’s Katie George asked him about the game.

Flagg also praised his teammates Ryan Nembhard and Miles Kelly for their stellar performance. The Mavericks selected Flagg with the first overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NBA draft.

The Mavericks and the Lakers showcased intense competition at the Thomas and Mack Center, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. For the Lakers, Bronny James played for 21 minutes, scoring eight points along with two assists and two rebounds. Dlaton Knecht contributed by playing for 26 minutes and scoring 15 points, two assists, and four rebounds. Cole Dwider made a notable impact, scoring 22 points, along with one assist and ten rebounds.

On the Mavericks’ side, Cooper Flagg played for 32 minutes, scoring ten points while adding four assists and six rebounds. Ryan Nembhard had a strong performance, playing for 33 minutes and recording 21 points, five assists, and two rebounds. Miles Kelly also made his mark with 17 points, two assists, and four rebounds.
