Washington Commanders Release Brutal Injury Update On Superstar QB Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was not seen at practice on Friday, which suggests Sunday’s Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders could come too soon for him.
Daniels sustained a knee injury during last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers, a game in which he was under immense pressure throughout, getting sacked four times as Green Bay’s blitz kept getting to him.
He underwent an MRI following the 27-18 defeat and was diagnosed with a sprained knee. Head coach Dan Quinn revealed that, while Daniels threw on the field in a rehab session on Wednesday, he was held out of team drills and would be reassessed after Friday’s practice.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who previously offered an update on the quarterback, has since disclosed that Daniels was not on the field on September 19 and will likely miss the Week 3 fixture.
Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has not been spotted at practice today, signaling that it is unlikely he will be recovered from his knee sprain in time to start Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders.

Jayden Daniels Not Ruled Out Just Yet

Daniels, who recently went viral after a curious interview with Taylor Rooks, has been key to the Commanders’ resurgence, immediately becoming the face of the franchise after being drafted second overall in 2024.
He’s completed 59.7 percent of his passes in his first two appearances this season, with Washington 1-1, throwing for 433 yards and three touchdowns, adding a further 85 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Veteran backup Marcus Mariota has been taking first-team reps in his absence and is expected to start if the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year can’t play. Mariotta, who last started an NFL game in 2022, has been a reliable second option, completing 77.3 percent of his passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns in three appearances last term.
Washington is being cautious with their star QB but are also hoping to bounce back from their Week 2 loss, having also lost running back Austin Ekeler to an Achilles injury.
Daniels’ status remains to be seen, but it isn’t looking great at the moment.
