The internet was already in splits after Kevin Durant bailed on IShowSpeed mid-pickup game, but things went big when Drake jumped into the chat. The rapper doubled down with a story of his own, pulling fans straight into a moment he never shared publicly until now. And just like that, the conversation shifted from one walkout to a pattern.

The timing made it even better. Durant’s exit from Speed’s “Speed Goes Pro” episode had already gone viral. People debated if KD was frustrated, bored, or just done. Then Drake dropped his version, confirming what fans have long suspected: Durant doesn’t exactly thrive in laid-back runs with amateurs.

On November 13, Drake revealed that years ago at UCLA, Durant walked off on him, too. The “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper said that KD dipped right after he drained four straight threes to end a run. Durant told him never to invite him again.

Speed’s missed wide-open shot triggered a similar exit, with KD saying,

“It was fun playing with y’all, man! Y’all have a good time!”

Despite the abrupt exits, Drake and Durant are still cool, but that pattern – well, fans caught it immediately.

The IShowSpeed wave has been crashing into every corner of sports culture, but nobody expected Durant to be the one amplifying it. The Houston Rockets star’s crossed paths with countless big personalities, yet his respect for Speed has hit differently.

The connection started with Speed’s “Speed Goes Pro” series, where they hooped together and ran drills. That chemistry carried over into real games, setting the stage for KD’s surprise praise.

On Nov. 13, per postgame comments, Durant called the 20-year-old creator a legitimate athlete:

“Speed is just an athlete… he can do it all! Streamers and guys who create content every day… That’s a tough, tough job. I’ve really got respect for what Speed brings to the culture.”

Speed’s breakout moment (breaking Devin Carter’s 3/4-court sprint record with a 2.805 run) only strengthened Kevin Durant’s stance. And with Speed already crossing paths with stars like Noah Lyles, Tom Brady, and Cristiano Ronaldo, KD’s nod just adds fuel to a cultural rise that refuses to slow down.
