Nick Saban’s Daughter Kristen Opens Up About Embarrassing Moment
When you’re talking about the biggest winners in College Football history, one name gets tossed into the conversation before anyone else even warms up: Nick Saban. The man’s basically the Belichick of the college game. Seven national titles. One with LSU back in 2003, six more during his dynasty run at Alabama. Seventeen years in Tuscaloosa, a ridiculous 201–29 record, and an unreal 87.39% win rate. That’s not just dominance, that’s a full-blown era.
Saban hung up the headset in January 2024 and traded the sideline for the studio, joining ESPN’s College GameDay crew next to Pat McAfee. And while Coach seems to be enjoying retirement life behind the desk, his daughter Kristen just went viral for a hilarious off-field “L.”
She shared a pic on her Instagram Story, sitting on a tiny red bar stool, with the caption:
“I’ve never felt more attacked by a tiny stool like this in my life. Like I’m just trying to be able to see above the bar. For ONCE. If you’re 5’2 you getit.”
Relatable. Short kings and queens everywhere felt that one.
And even though Saban’s out of the playbook business now, Kristen’s still calling her own shots. For Halloween, she showed up dressed as Kirk Herbstreit’s dog, Peter; complete with a mini press pass. Absolute commitment to the bit.
Herbstreit, who works both GameDay and primetime broadcasts, lost his beloved golden retriever, Ben, late in 2024 and delivered a heartfelt tribute on-air. These days, his new golden, Peter, has become a staple on set and even travels to games with him.
With that costume? Kristen might as well pull up to the GameDay set on Saturday and park herself right next to Peter.
Inside Kristen Saban’s Journey From Alabama Student Assistant to NFL Front Office
Nick and Terry Saban are parents to their daughter Kristen, who joined the family through adoption. And she’s been part of the Saban squad ever since.
Growing up in a household where football wasn’t just a sport, but a full-blown lifestyle, Kristen quickly picked up the passion. She rolled into the University of Alabama and went straight to work within the program, serving as a student assistant under her father, according to her LinkedIn profile. Talk about learning the game from the ultimate head coach.
After college, she took her talents to the NFL world, working as a sales assistant for the Tennessee Titans. From there, she transitioned into the PR and marketing field, most notably becoming the marketing director for Mercedes-Benz Birmingham, essentially running her own front office.
By 2020, Kristen brought things back home, joining Nick’s Kids Foundation full-time. Today, she sits on the board of directors, helping steer the foundation the same way her dad once steered championship teams.
