What Happened To LaMelo Ball? Why He Left Early During Raptors vs. Hornets Game
LaMelo Ball has been one of the mainstays for the Charlotte Hornets in recent times. However, as the current season progressed, the rift between the Hornets and Ball seemed to have deepened. In fact, the situation is so tense that there have been rumors about the Hornets deciding to move on from Ball.
Unfortunately, making things further problematic for Ball, his lingering ankle injury has once again come back. Playing against the Toronto Raptors, the Hornets’ star had to exit the game early. And while the fans eagerly waited to see him return, the official announcement came in stating that Ball is out due to ankle soreness.
Currently, the severity of the injury is unclear. The incident took place during the third quarter. While trying to come back to defend a play, Ball accidentally had a bad step, twisting his ankle. Immediately, he fell to the ground, writhing in pain, as the support staff came in to help him out of the court.

Interestingly, up until that point, Ball had only played for 11 minutes. However, he was getting off to a decent start, dropping 11 points within the short timeframe. The Hornets’ star also had a couple of rebounds, three assists, and a steal to his name. Now, moving on from the unfortunate incident, Ball recently shrugged off the exit rumors. And following his claims, reporter Kelly Iko doubled down on the topic with a fresh perspective.
Kelly Iko Hints At Politics As LaMelo Ball Rejects Exit Rumors
Iko recently reported that Ball is reportedly leaving the Charlotte Hornets. While the news gained a lot of traction, it also prompted Ball to react immediately. And he rejected it outright.
Hearing the same, Iko appeared quite frustrated. The reporter doubled down on the take, mentioning that it is a trend that the NBA has followed for a long time.
“I wasn’t surprised by it; I knew it was coming. It’s the politics of it all. I’ve been in this game a long time, you understand… star player is frustrated, report comes out, star player denies it. And in the middle of the night, weeks or months down the line when he’s traded, no one circles back to it,” Iko said.
