Former Team USA Olympic Medalist Fatally Shot In Starbucks Drive-Thru; Suspect Charged With Murder
Former Team USA skater Gabrielle ‘Sam’ Linehan had her life tragically stolen from her. The former Team USA figure skating medallist passed away after a shocking shooting at a Starbucks drive-thru. The incident went down in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was inside her car in the Tower Grove East neighborhood of St. Louis when Keith Lamon Brown allegedly held her at gunpoint. Her life and his life would change forever when he opened fire just after 10:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
That is what happened, according to a probable cause statement obtained by the New York Post. Linehan, who later became a skating coach, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save her life. During a Winter Olympics already overshadowed by tragedy, this was even worse news.
Man Gets Arrested In The Murder of Gabrielle’ Sam’ Linehan

A beloved figure skating coach was shot to death at a Starbucks drive-thru. It was allegedly done by a man suspected of carrying out a series of robberies over the previous week. She was gunned down on Tuesday while collecting a beverage from a Starbucks in St Louis’ Tower Grove East neighborhood.
A man, 30 years her senior, has since been arrested by police in connection with the crime. Keith Lamon Brown was caught on surveillance video wearing a high-visibility vest and helmet when he walked up to Linehan’s car. He ordered her to raise her hands before shooting the defenseless woman.
Brown allegedly robbed multiple bank cards and a driver’s license from Linehan before fleeing on foot. He has been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. If only he had been arrested already, this would’ve never happened.
Brown was wanted for two armed robberies that took place days before Linehan’s murder.
In the aftermath, the St. Louis Synergy, the Metro Edge Skating Club’s synchronized figure skating team, paid tribute to Gabrielle’ Sam’ Linehan.
“Coach Sam Linehan was a cherished skater, coach, mentor, and friend whose impact reached far beyond the ice. A dedicated leader, Coach Sam devoted time and heart to supporting and developing skaters while instilling the values of discipline, teamwork, integrity, and resilience,” the team wrote on Instagram.
“This loss is both sudden and profoundly heartbreaking for athletes, staff, and the entire skating community. Focus remains on supporting Sam’s family and ensuring skaters have the care and resources needed during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement added.
The suspect is being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center without bond.
