Lakers’ JJ Redick Keeps It Real on Thunder’s Potential Ahead of High-Stakes Matchup

The Los Angeles Lakers were touted as the underdogs when they faced the Houston Rockets in the postseason round 1. However, as the series concluded, it was the purple and gold brigade who emerged victorious with a 4-2 margin. Surprisingly, in the absence of Austin Reaves (till Game 5) and Luka Doncic, it was LeBron James who dominated the proceedings.
Now, with the second round challenge coming in, the road ahead looks extremely tough for JJ Redick’s men. Well, it is true that dropping such a stellar performance has made the Lakers locker room go gaga over King James. However, even if the Akron-born replicates the same form in round 2, it might not be enough to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“The Thunder is one of the greatest teams ever in NBA history… They’re that good. I think our guys recognize that and respect that, and we know what kind of task we have in front of us,” Redick told reporters.

Looking at recent matchups, the situation does not look very promising. In the four games that the Lakers played against the Thunder this season, Los Angeles lost in all of them. And with Luka Doncic missing, the task is even more daunting.
Will JJ Redick Miss Luka Doncic Against The Thunder?
Back in February, two of Redick’s biggest support systems were Doncic and Reaves. As the former Dallas Mavericks star reached 600 points, the latter proved an able ally to Doncic. Unfortunately, that is now history. A recent report depicted a Game 4 return for the Lakers’ icon.

Moreover, the condensed schedule might also go against the Lakers. With a 41-year-old James and a rusty Reaves trying to find their footing, the likes of Shai-Gilgeous Alexander will fancy their chances heavily. Thus, with a lot going on at the moment, all eyes will be on who comes out on top.
