A player will be fined $500 for their first three technical fouls.
They will receive a $500 fine for a Flagrant 1 and $1,000 fine for a Flagrant 2.
But for an athlete who accumulates eight techs, a $ 1,500 fine will be imposed in addition to a one-game suspension. However, when it comes to the playoffs, the rules differ slightly. Technical fouls 1-2 will attract a $500 fine each, while three techs would lead to a $1000 fine followed by a warning. Lastly, four technical fouls result in $ 1,500 in fines and a one-game suspension.
Now, apart from the techs, the WNBA also briefed about flopping and the flagrant offenses.
What Are The Penalties For Flagrant Fouls And Flopping In WNBA?
Some of the WNBA’s decisions have attracted a lot of criticism in the past. But the decision to up the fines for fouls might be a good one, as it focuses more on protecting the players. In turn, giving the fans a clean game. Now, shifting to the flagrant fouls, changes have been announced there as well. For each Flagrant 1 foul, it counts as one point. And for Flagrant 2 fouls, two points.
For each point, a $500 fine will be levied. However, if a player reaches four points, they will receive an automatic suspension. In a new addition, the league has also listed the penalties for flopping. While officials will let the first offense go with a warning, they will fine subsequent instances $100, $200, $300, $400, and so on.
Thus, with some drastic changes coming in, fans are now looking to see what’s next.
